Christmas in the Hill Country amplifies all the wonderful things about living in this beautiful place. One of the Texas family traditions that are so enjoyed this time of year is viewing holiday lights. And the Hill Country holiday lights are in abundance! Santa’s Ranch isn’t just one of the Hill Country’s best Christmas spots; it’s known all over Texas and attracts visitors from far and wide to its mile-long stretch of twinkling lights—all 1.5 million of them!—and themed displays. The lights stay up through New Year’s Day, and homemade treats and refreshments are served daily.
Two million lights adorn this 1.5-mile trail, open through December 26.
This half-mile of lighted trail is filled with inspired and inspiring displays and is open nightly until New Year’s Eve.
This favorite Hill Country holiday tradition is one of the best family outings in the Hill Country, featuring an eight-acre trail of lights and a whole host of festive events including the Jingle Bell Express train, visits with Santa and princesses such as Elsa, Anna, Cinderella, and Snow White, a musical garden, and food and refreshments for sale. The trail is open through December 29.
This favorite holiday light display features more than one million lights covering the Blanco County Courthouse, the adjacent Pedernales Electric Co-Op headquarters, and the downtown Johnson City Memorial Park. Lights will be on until January 1.
With more than two million lights and 400 lighted sculptures twinkling along Lake Marble Falls, it’s hard to find a more festive and beautiful spot to enjoy Christmas festivities. Open through New Year’s Day, this annual event also features food for sales and photos with Santa.
The Don Strange Ranch
Open through New Year’s Eve, the Christmas Light Fest in Boerne features more than two million lights in a beautiful drive-through display. You can also take a hayride, and the Santa’s Village offers holiday treats and visits from St. Nick.
San Antonio Zoo
Heading to San Antonio to see some Christmas lights? Don’t miss the San Antonio Zoo, which is transformed over the holidays by Zoo Lights. Until January 1, you can come to the zoo after hours to see a park full of twinkling lights and an all-new light show, and participate in special activities including ice skating, s’mores roasting, and camel riding! SeaWorld offers the largest display of holiday lights in Texas, with five million twinkling lights plus Christmas shows, festive foods, and Santa Claus. And you don’t want to miss the River Walk, which really comes alive at Christmastime, with lights that twinkle along the water. The best way to enjoy them if you’re playing tourist? Take a boat tour.
