Home Blog New HEB Plus open in New Braunfels

Living in New Braunfels just got a whole lot better, especially for those on the city’s Northeast side. After just six months, the new HEB Plus is open. The store celebrated its ribbon cutting and opened to the public this week, attracting attention from community leaders and area residents excited to add this important amenity to a growing sector. The first store of its kind in the city, the new HEB Plus is located on Farm-to-market 306 at Interstate 35.

“The ribbon-cutting included remarks by New Braunfels Mayor Barron Casteel; Natalie Rougeux, board chair of the Greater New Braunfels Area Chamber of Commerce; Kelvin Boone, general manager of the store; and Suzanne Wade, HEB’s San Antonio Food and Drug Division president,” said the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung. During his remarks to the crowd, Casteel said the HEB Plus project “could not have been done without the collaboration, the partnership and leadership of the county and city — and the Texas Department of Transportation — in getting Farm-to-Market Road 306 expanded.”

Mayor Casteel also reiterated the importance of the 140 new jobs the store is bringing to the area as well as the “$3.4 million which we will see in tax revenue in the next 10 years in the city of New Braunfels.” As the second-fastest growing city in the nation, New Braunfels has been at the center of an employment explosion. Recent employment growth in New Braunfels includes Canadian-based CGT U.S. Limited bringing hundreds of jobs to the city; the world’s largest retailer, Amazon, building a new 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center in neighboring San Marcos that will add 1,000+ employees,

The new HEB Plus will take pressure off of the two existing HEB stores in New Braunfels and give residents on this side of town a valuable new amenity. The new store is just down the road from popular New Braunfels new-home community The Crossings, offering affordable new homes in New Braunfels with prices from the mid $200s.
