Solms Landing to break ground soon

The exciting new mixed-use project of Solms Landing is expected to break ground in the first quarter of this year. Located near the Buccee’s Travel Center in New Braunfels across from Creekside Town Center, the development is set to include “restaurants, a boutique hotel, upscale retail space, multifamily units, Class A office space, walking and biking trails, and at least three parks,” according to a new San Antonio Business Journal article.

Project developer Fred Meyers said that, “The retail portion of the development will focus on local businesses and will include a small grocery store” and specialty retailers as well as plans to build “a 6,000-square-foot, two-story white barn that could be used as event space, and even space for 10 to 12 food court trailers with outdoor seating space.”

Large office project coming to New Braunfels

As more companies come to New Braunfels for its business-friendly environment or expand existing operations to accommodate growth, the need for more space grows. Developer Koontz Corp. broke ground on the first phase of Sundance Plaza, a 120,000-square foot Class A office development located just off FM 306 on the north side of New Braunfels, last summer; completion of the first phase is eyed for the first quarter of 2018.

Centerpark San Marcos under development

A new 85-acre office park is planned for San Marcos, just south of Amazon's warehouse and adjacent to New Braunfels—a “needed piece of commercial infrastructure in a region where residential development is booming,” said the Austin Business Journal. “Plans call for up to 240,000 square feet of Class A office space along with nearly 2.3 million square feet of distribution space.”

New recreational opportunities on the horizon

The long-awaited New Braunfels recreation center, named “Das Rec,” has a beautiful exterior and a plan to be finished by Spring 2018. Another fitness option, this one pinpointing women, is also coming to the city. “Burn Bootcamp, 2063 Central Plaza, Ste 103, New Braunfels, is a women’s-focused gym that will open in January,” said Community Impact. “Men’s classes will also be available throughout the week, and free child care will be offered during some of the classes.”
