Thanksgiving in the Hill Country is a wonderful time for many reasons (not least of which is the beautiful weather). And while getting together with family at someone’s house is how many people traditionally celebrate the holiday, eating out on Thanksgiving is a growing trend. Thankfully, there are several Hill Country restaurants that are open for Thanksgiving and that cook up special holiday meals.
The Hyatt Regency is one of the favorite Hill country hotspots year round, but their Thanksgiving brunch and dinner are both extremely popular. Brunch includes breakfast items including “made-to-order omelets, waffle station, bacon, pastries and more,” they said. Plus soups and salads, a carving station, seafood, and “traditional Thanksgiving favorites.” There is also a special children's buffet. For dinner, the “traditional family-style” meal includes holiday favorites “with innovative twists on popular dishes.”
The Faust Hotel is a favorite New Braunfels landmark, and their Thanksgiving feast is an all-day affair. Expect to see roast turkey, honey ham, and a whole bunch of yummy side dishes including mashed potatoes, sage stuffing, corn bread pudding, and a delicious dessert display.
This all-adult bed-and-breakfast is a favorite spot for romantic getaways in the Hill Country. They also serve both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner—both of which sell out quickly because of their popularity.
If you’re heading to Boerne for Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort’s famous brunch, wear your Thanksgiving pants. You’ll want to have enough room for the chef-carved five-spiced turkey, smoked turkey breast, and rosemary-rubbed steamship round. And don’t forget about the hot and cold displays with roasted sweet potato and kale gratin, poached eggs and pulled pork benedict, pepper-dusted salmon, poached shrimp, cured meats, and ahi tuna tartare. Then there’s the omelet station and variety of desserts.
You can never go wrong at this upscale Hill Country resort, and that goes double on Thanksgiving. Their annual brunch incudes “a gourmet spread of meats, fresh breads, traditional favorites, and desserts made from scratch.”
If you want to enjoy Thanksgiving at home with family but don’t want to cook, New Braunfels Smokehouse offers a great alternative. Choose from main dishes like honey-cured ham, barbecued turkey breast, and smoked pork loin, and layer in their snacks and delicious desserts for a traditional meal you can order, bring home, and enjoy without the work.
